Students all over the world can work together on projects despite language differences.
Examples
One definition of Global Awareness is this: Understanding and learning from other countries and using modern day technology to communicate and solve global problems. Literate and fluent globally aware students know that working with students from other countries and cultures will sometimes mean using different languages. They also understand that technology or the Internet allows them to learn more about different countries.
iEARN (International Education and Resource Network) offers students a place to talk about global problems and work on collaborative projects. Children in Maryland were able to work together with children in Mexico to learn about the migration of the Monarch butterfly.
Also, students in Mississippi were able to learn about poverty in Thailand and were able to raise funds for the students there. Different languages should not keep students from learning about different countries and cultures. [1]
This information shows that students all over the world can work together on projects despite language differences. The children in Maryland would have had to find a way to communicate with the students in Mexico fluently. It would have been the same for the children in Mississippi raising funds for students in Thailand.
